Türkiye, UAE foreign ministers discuss ties in phone call

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye’s foreign minister and his UAE counterpart discussed bilateral relations in a phone call.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan conveyed his congratulations to Mevlut Cavusoglu for the reelection of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his alliance's success in the parliamentary elections.

Türkiye went to the polls Sunday for a presidential runoff election after no candidate secured more than 50% of the vote needed for an outright victory in the first round May 14.

Erdogan won with more than 52% of the vote, while opposition candidate Kemal Kilicdaroglu received over 47%, according to unofficial results.
