Türkiye's BIST 100 index down 3.57% at close

Benchmark index drops by around 235.5 points at closing session on Tuesday

ISTANBUL (AA) – Türkiye's benchmark stock index ended Tuesday at 6,365.00 points, down 3.57% from the previous close.

After starting the day at 6,636.70 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 235.46 points from the previous close.

The index's lowest value during the day was 6,362.68, while its high was 6,662.17.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 5.4 trillion Turkish liras ($206.7 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 140 billion Turkish liras ($5.19 billion).

During the day, 16 stocks on the index rose and 84 fell compared to the previous close.

The price of an ounce of gold was $1,985.55, while Brent crude oil sold for around $79.66 per barrel as of 6.25 p.m. local time (1525GMT).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 26.9170, the euro/lira exchange rate was 30.2520, and the British pound traded at 35.1950 Turkish liras.
