Türkiye's Borsa Istanbul down at close

ISTANBUL (AA) – Türkiye's benchmark stock index dropped 1.83% to close at 5,523.49 points on Wednesday.

Starting the day at 5,646.62 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 103.09 points from previous close of 5,626.57.

The index's lowest value during the day was 5,478.79, while its daily high was 5,651.74.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 4.5 trillion Turkish liras ($239.6 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 124.7 billion Turkish liras ($6.65 billion).

During the day, 15 stocks on the index rose and 82 fell compared to the previous close.

The price of an ounce of gold was $1,863.70, while Brent crude oil was at around $80.68 per barrel as of 6.58 p.m. local time (1558GMT).
