Türkiye's Medipol Basaksehir going without conceding goal in league, Europe

ANKARA (AA) - The Turkish football club Medipol Basaksehir has been showing solid performance, preventing opposing teams from scoring this season.

The 2020 Turkish champions scored 16 goals in seven matches, including two UEFA Europa Conference League games.

Basaksehir, an Istanbul club, defeated the 10-man Fiorentina 3-0 on Thursday evening to remain at the top of Group A in the third-tier Europa Conference League and keep their flawless run in the European campaign.

The Grey Owls previously hammered the Scottish club Hearts 4-0 in Edinburgh last week to make an excellent start to the 2022-23 Europa Conference League.

In the next fixture, Basaksehir will visit the Latvian team RFS in Riga on Oct. 6.

Meanwhile, in the Turkish Spor Toto Super Lig, Emre Belozoglu's men are performing well too.

Basaksehir are currently in the second spot in the Turkish Spor Toto Super Lig. They bagged 13 points in five Super Lig matches.

The Grey Owls scored nine goals but did not concede any in the local division.

On Monday, Basaksehir beat Istanbul-based football powerhouse Besiktas 1-0 at Vodafone Park, an important victory for the visitors. Burkinese winger Bertrand Traore, who arrived from Aston Villa in August, scored the winning goal in the second half.

Basaksehir will play against VavaCars Fatih Karagumruk at home on Sunday.

The Istanbul team's Turkish winger Serdar Gurler scored three goals – two in Europa Conference League – in seven appearances in total to be Basaksehir's highest scorer.

French-born Gurler, 31, joined the team in January.
