Chicken meat production jumps 10% year-on-year in January-March, official data shows

ANKARA (AA) – Turkiye's poultry production increased in the first quarter of 2022 compared to last year, official data showed on Wednesday.

The country produced 582,444 tons of chicken meat in January-March, up 10% from the same period last year, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) said.

Turkiye's hen egg production was marginally down by 0.5% to 4.9 billion units in the first three months of this year.

The number of chickens slaughtered surged 14.4%, reaching 230 million units in the same period.

The country's turkey meat production posted a rise of 18.9% in the January-March period to 16,624 tons.
