Twin attacks hit Iraq’s Kirkuk
In mid-October, Iraqi forces wrested control of oil-rich Kirkuk from Kurdish Peshmerga forces

BAGHDAD (AA) – Twin bombing struck the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk on Sunday amid reports of casualties, according to a local police officer.
A suicide bomber detonated his explosive vest in Atlas street in central Kirkuk, Capt. Hamed al-Obeidi told Anadolu Agency.
Another bombing took place near the scene of the first explosion.
Al-Obeidi said a number of people were killed and injured in the attacks, but did not give further details.
There was no claim of responsibility for the attacks.
In mid-October, Iraqi forces wrested control of oil-rich Kirkuk from Kurdish Peshmerga forces, one month after the Kurdish Regional Government held a controversial referendum on the regional Kurdish independence.
