UAE president to visit Russia on Tuesday

ANKARA (AA) – President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, is set to visit Russia on Tuesday for talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, according to the state news agency WAM.

Bin Zayed will be the first Arab leader to visit Russia since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February.

WAM said the UAE leader will discuss with Putin "the friendly relations between the UAE and Russia along with a number of regional and international issues of common interest."

Tuesday’s visit will be the third foreign visit for bin Zayed since he assumed power in May after France and Oman.

Abu Dhabi has called on Russia and Ukraine to exercise self-restraint and solve their differences through dialogue.
