UK economy barely grows in October, still below pre-pandemic level

ANKARA (AA) - The UK's economy barely grew in October by an estimated 0.1%, and it is still 0.5% below its pre-pandemic level of February 2020, according to official figures released Friday.

Services output grew by 0.4% in October with the most significant contribution coming from human health activities, which rose by 3.5%, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said.

Production output, however, decreased 0.6% in October with electricity and gas down by 2.9%, and mining and quarrying down by 5%.

The construction sector contracted with output down 1.8%, according to the ONS.
