LONDON (AA) - A man was arrested after a brief police operation in a retail park in Nuneaton in Central England following reports of a hostage situation on Sunday.
Warwickshire Police said in a statement that specialist firearms officers and police negotiators, along with fire, ambulance and police air services, attended the location at the bowling alley in St. David's Way, Bermuda Park.
"A man has been arrested and is in police custody," it said.
The statement added that members of public at the bowling alley and neighboring properties were evacuated to safety and "nobody was injured during the incident".
Local media reported earlier that a man armed with a shotgun took two hostages at a bowling alley in Nuneaton town, with the police asking people to avoid the area and blocking all roads leading to the "ongoing incident at Bermuda Park".
The police later confirmed that the incident was "unconnected to any terrorist activity".
