UK: Police shot suspect at London Bridge

LONDON (AA) – London Bridge has come under lockdown Friday afternoon amid reports of shots fired.

"Police were called at 1:58 p.m. to a stabbing at premises near to London Bridge," a statement from Metropolitan Police said.

"Emergency services attended, including officers from the Met and City of London Police."

It said: "A man has been detained by police. We believe a number of people have been injured. Further info to follow."

A suspect has been killed by armed police on the bridge, according to local reports.

A woman has been reportedly carried away from the scene later, according to eyewitnesses. Reports also say at least five people have been injured during the incident.

The bridge and surrounding roads have been cordoned off by the police, who have warned people to stay away from the area.

Emergency services, including ambulances are at the scene.
