Ukraine: Armed man takes about 20 people hostage
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky takes personal command of situation, says everything being done to free hostages

MOSCOW (AA) - An armed man has taken about 20 people hostage in the city of Lutsk in northwestern Ukraine on Tuesday, according to the local police.
The man – as yet unidentified – is said to have explosives on him but has refused to make contact with authorities and has not voiced any demands, the police said.
On social media, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he was taking command of the situation personally, adding that authorities are doing everything to free the hostages.
"Everything is being done to resolve the situation without [there being any] victims," he added.
Special forces have secured the area of the incident, evacuating civilians from the surroundings.
