Ukraine claims it sunk Russian landing ship near Crimea

ISTANBUL (AA) - Ukraine on Wednesday claimed that it sank a landing ship belonging to Russia's Black Sea fleet off the coast of the Crimean Peninsula, which Russia illegally annexed in 2014.

In a Telegram statement, Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence claimed that, along with “all components of the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine,” it had used attack drones to sink the Caesar Kunikov landing ship near the city of Alupka.

“Implementation of the special operation became possible with the support of the United24 platform,” it said, adding that Russia’s search and rescue operation was not successful.

Russian authorities have not yet commented on the claim, while an independent verification of the claim is difficult due to the ongoing war.​​​​​​​
