KYIV, Ukraine (AA) - Russian forces have entered the Kreminna city in Ukraine’s eastern Luhansk region, an official said on Monday.

“The Russians entered Kreminna. Street fights began. Evacuation is not possible,” Serhiy Haidai, governor of Luhansk Oblast, said on Telegram.

He said that the Russian forces entered Kreminna with many tanks and armored vehicles and that the civilians have been stuck in the city.

The governor said that two people were killed and four others wounded in the shelling of the Zolote town, adding that six patrol policemen were wounded in the Lysychansk city.

At least 1,982 civilians have been killed and 2,651 injured in Ukraine so far in the war, according to UN estimates, with the true figure believed to be much higher.

More than 4.8 million Ukrainians have fled to other countries, with over 7 million more internally displaced, said the UN refugee agency.
