Ukraine's president accuses Russia of committing terrorism against Ukrainians

Russia’s relentless terrorist attacks signal its refusal to negotiate, says Volodymyr Zelenskyy

ANKARA (AA) - Ukraine’s president on Sunday accused Russia of committing terrorist acts against civilians in Ukraine.

“Terrorism is a crime that must be punished. Terrorism at the state level is one of the most heinous international crimes which threatens not just someone in the world, but the entire international community,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a video message on Telegram.

Zelenskyy also slammed attacks carried out by Russian forces in Ukraine’s southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia in recent days.

“The strikes this night continued a series of Russian missile strikes on Zaporizhzhia, which have killed at least 43 people since Oct. 3 this week alone,” he said.

He said there were also strikes on the northeastern city of Kharkiv and on the cities of the Donbas region as well as other cities in Ukraine.

Underlining that there were also airstrikes by Iranian drones, Zelenskyy said most of them were aimed at civil infrastructure and civilians.

“The constant terror against the civilian population is an obvious Russian refusal to engage in real negotiations,” he added.
