Unbeaten Super Lig leaders Trabzonspor shutout Gaziantep, take firm steps forward

Trabzonspor topple Gaziantep FK 3-0 at home to keep top form

ANKARA (AA) - Trabzonspor beat Gaziantep FK 3-0 at home Monday to retain their flawless run in Turkey's Spor Toto Super Lig 2021-22 season's domestic campaign.

Midfielder and captain Abdulkadir Omur scored the opener in minute 19 at Medical Park Stadium.

Omur scored a long-range freekick, lobbing above Gaziantep goalkeeper Gunay Guvenc, who watched the ball.

In the 42nd minute, Trabzonspor doubled the lead as Djaniny finished in the box after receiving a through ball from Anthony Nwakaeme.

Near the end of the first half, Trabzonspor made it 3-0 on a quick counterattack.

Djaniny dribbled for a while to find his Danish teammate Andreas Cornelius in the area.

Cornelius was unmarked and fired a left-footed low shot to beat Guvenc.

In the second half, Gaziantep FK have several unlucky moments as they had three shots that hit the goalpost.

Bur Trabzonspor finished the job in the first 45 minutes.

The leaders from Turkey's Black Sea region won 10 games and drew in three to boost their points to 33.

Trabzonspor's nearest opponents in standings, Atakas Hatayspor and Ittifak Holding Konyaspor have 26 points each.
