Unemployment in Spain slips to lowest level since 2007

ANKARA (AA) - The number of people registered as jobless in Spain dropped to nearly 2.84 million in December, the lowest level since 2007, according to official data released on Tuesday.

The figure was down by 43,727 or 1.52% from a month ago, data from the Labor Ministry showed.

Unemployment decreased by 37,080 in the services sector and by 4,922 people in agriculture.

The number of unemployed women fell by 37,411, or 2.17%, month-on-month, to hit a 14-year low of around 1.7 million.

Youth unemployment was also at a record low, with 195,000 people under the age of 25 registered as jobless, a decline of 5.86% or 12,185 people from the previous month.

Compared to December 2021, unemployment declined by 268,252, or 8.64%, last month.
