BAGHDAD (AA) - Unidentified attackers in southern Iraq bombed a military site and religious establishment affiliated with Iraq’s Sadrist movement, a local military source told Anadolu Agency on Tuesday.

“Unknown attackers bombed an office of the Saraya al-Salam [the Sadrist movement’s military wing] and an office of the Malek al-Ashtar [a Sadrist-linked religious organization] in Iraq’s southern Maysan province,” Army Lieutenant Mohsen al-Awsi said.

According to al-Awsi, both offices were empty at the time of the attacks.

The twin attacks come days after Iraq’s Sairoon coalition, led by Shia cleric Muqtada al-Sadr (the Sadrist movement’s eponymous leader), swept parliamentary polls, according to initial election results.
