ANKARA (AA) - At least 12 people have died in a mass shooting in a dance bar in southern California late Wednesday, U.S. media reported.

Reports say attack took place in Thousand Oaks, roughly 60 kilometers (37 miles) from Los Angeles at around 11.20 p.m. local time (0720 GMT).

Authorities have confirmed that the attacker was found dead inside the venue and that a deputy sheriff was among the killed.

The motive of the gunman has yet to be confirmed.

Authorities have reached the scene, cautioning civilians to stay away.
