RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA) – Two Palestinians were fatally shot by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank on Thursday, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

A ministry statement said the two young men died of their injuries sustained “as a result of Israeli aggression in Jenin.”

According to eyewitnesses, the two youths were killed during an Israeli raid in the town of Kafr Dan near Jenin.

The ministry said earlier Thursday that six Palestinians had been injured, including three seriously, in Jenin.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces detained 13 Palestinians during a raid into the Nur Shams refugee camp in Tulkarem, the state news agency Wafa reported.

Clashes broke out between angry Palestinian residents and Israeli forces during the raid, it said.

For his part, Ofir Gendelman, spokesman for Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, tweeted that the army is "working this week to arrest Palestinians and thwart their plans to carry out operations against Israeli citizens."

In a related development, the Israeli army handed over the body of 14-year-old Qusai Fuad Hamamra from the village of Husan in Bethlehem to the Palestinian side.

Hamamra was shot dead by Israeli soldiers on Wednesday evening during clashes in the village.

Tensions have been running high across the Palestinian territories since the beginning of April amid repeated Israeli raids to arrest “wanted” Palestinians.
