SIRNAK, Turkey (AA) - A soldier succumbed to his wounds at hospital in southeastern Sirnak province on Saturday, according to a military source.
The soldier had been injured during a counter-terrorism operation against the PKK terror group in Sirnak earlier in the day, the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to media, said.
The incident occurred when an operation led by the gendarmerie command was taking place in Sirnak's Bestler-Dereler region in Uludere district, the source added.
Counter-terrorism operations against the PKK terrorist organization remain ongoing in the area.
Later on Saturday, three soldiers were injured in Kulp district of southeastern Diyarbakir province in an operation against PKK terrorists.
However, one of the injured succumbed to death at Diyarbakir Selahattin Eyyubi State Hospital, according to the hospital sources.
More than 1,200 people, including security force personnel and civilians, have lost their lives since the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July 2015.
