HATAY, Turkey (AA) - Turkish security forces on Wednesday “neutralized” three terrorists in the country’s southern and southeastern provinces.
According to governor office in southern Hatay province, the Gendarmerie Command took part in the operation around the Amanos mountains and “neutralized” one terrorist.
Turkish authorities often use the word “neutralized" in statements to imply the terrorists in question surrendered or were killed or captured.
Hatay province borders Syria, where the terrorist groups PKK/YPG and Daesh have been active.
Two more terrorists were “neutralized” in a separate counter-terrorism operation in southeastern Hakkari province, according to Turkish Interior Ministry.
In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- has been responsible for the deaths of some 40,000 people, including women and children.
