UPDATE - Anadolu Agency cameraman attacked in Belgrade

His attackers yet to be identified, Nihad Ibrahimkadic now in hospital intensive care with a broken chin

BELGRADE, Serbia (AA) - An Anadolu Agency cameraman was attacked Thursday by unidentified assailants in Serbia’s capital, according to agency correspondents and hospital staff.

Nihad Ibrahimkadic was found by soldiers near the train station in Belgrade and taken to hospital.

He is currently in intensive care with a broken chin, said hospital sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

Turkey's Embassy in Belgrade has been informed about the incident. The attackers have not been identified yet.

A citizen of neighboring Bosnia-Herzegovina, Ibrahimkadic has been working for Anadolu Agency since 2012.

Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Representative on Freedom of the Media, Dunja Mijatović condemned the attack on Ibrahimkadic issuing a statement. "I believe that this heinous attack on the press member will be investigated and the responsible ones will be brought to justice."

The Independent Journalists Community and Vojvodina Independent Journalists Community stated that they also condemned the attack on AA cameraman Ibrahimkadic. The communities called for the assailants speedy capture.
