*UPDATES WITH DETAILS OF SATURDAY'S ROCKET ATTACKS AND TURKISH RETALIATION
ANKARA (AA) – Turkish military sources have said their forces killed a total of 104 Daesh terrorists in Syria on Friday.
Speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media, Turkish military sources said Saturday that their artillery killed terrorists who were on the verge of firing rockets into nearby Turkey.
During the operations, seven defensive positions and four mortars belonging to Daesh were destroyed.
Separately, Turkish artillery shelled targets on Saturday in Syria in retaliation for Daesh cross-border rocket attacks on the southeastern city of Gaziantep. According to the source, at least four Daesh positions were destroyed.
Since mid-January, Daesh rockets have been targeting towns and cities in southern Turkey, close to the Syrian frontier. A total of 21 people, including Syrians sheltering in Turkey, have been killed and more than 70 others wounded.
