ANKARA (AA) - At least 12 people were injured after two earthquakes rocked western Nepal on Tuesday, according to officials.

Kuber Kadayat, a senior police official, told Anadolu over the phone that at least 12 people received “minor” injuries and one person is missing since the earthquake hit the South Asian nation.

"The injured people are from multiple districts. All of them are with minor injuries," he said, adding that a landslide also took place in the district of Bajhang.

Nepal-based Kathmandu Post quoted the country's National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre, saying an earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale was recorded at 2:40 p.m. local time and another 6.3 magnitude quake at 3:06 p.m. local time.

Earlier, the National Center for Seismology of India stated on X that an earthquake of 6.2 magnitudes on the Richter scale occurred at 2:51 p.m. local time (1151GMT), with the epicenter in Nepal.

The tremors were also felt in India’s capital New Delhi and other parts of the country.

On Monday, an earthquake of magnitude 5.2 struck the Indian northeastern state of Meghalaya, causing tremors in neighboring states as well as in Bangladesh's capital Dhaka, and some other parts of the country.
