BAGHDAD (AA) – At least six people were killed and 15 others injured in attacks in northern and eastern Iraq on Sunday, according to Iraqi authorities.

A police vehicle struck a roadside bomb south of Al-Shirqat town in northern Saladin, Police Lieutenant Salahuddin al-Jabbouri told Anadolu Agency.

He said four other police personnel were injured in the attack.

In a statement, the Iraqi Defense Ministry said a second bomb attack took place in the town of al-Mesehli.

According to the ministry, four people were killed and 10 others injured in the two attacks.

Meanwhile, an Iraqi man and his wife were shot dead by militants in al-Shoura area, south of Mosul, Police Lieutenant AbdelKadir al-Jabbouri said.

Militants also attacked a security checkpoint in the eastern Diyala province, injuring five security personnel, according to Police Captain Habib al-Shimari.

Though no group has yet claimed responsibility for the bombing, Iraqi authorities usually blame the Daesh terrorist group for that kind of attacks.

In the summer of 2014, Daesh overran much of northern and western Iraq.

After a three-year war, the Iraqi government declared late in 2017 that Daesh's military presence in Iraq had been all but ended through operations backed by a U.S.-led international alliance.
