ISTANBUL (AA) - Condemnations are pouring in from across the world over twin suicide bombings in Iraq's capital Baghdad that killed at least 32 people and wounded 110 others.

The attack rocked a busy commercial market in Baghdad when two suicide bombers detonated explosives they were carrying near al-Tayaran Square, the Iraqi Health Ministry said.

- Turkey

The Turkish Embassy in Baghdad strongly condemned the bombing affirming Turkey's stand with Iraq.

Turkey's Ambassador in Baghdad Fatih Yildiz tweeted: "I strongly condemn the dehumanized groups that today showed their ugly face in Baghdad again after a long period of time."

The Turkish diplomat prayed for the victims and wished quick recovery for the wounded, asserting that "Turkey, as usual, is always beside you."

- Lebanon

The Lebanese Foreign Ministry strongly condemned "the twin suicide attack that targeted the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, in which a number of innocent citizens were killed and wounded."

In a statement, the ministry offered its deep condolences to the Iraqi people in general and the families of the victims in particular, and wished for a speedy recovery for the wounded.

- Tunisia

The Tunisian Foreign Ministry also condemned the attack and expressed its solidarity with the government and people of Iraq, expressing condolences to the families of the victims and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.

The ministry affirmed that it stands "with the brotherly State of Iraq in its war against all forms of terrorism and violent extremism."

- Palestine

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas condemned the bombing and offered condolences to the families of the victims, according to the official Wafa news agency.

"We stand in solidarity with Iraq, the president, the government and the people, as a result of the heinous terrorist act that targeted defenseless innocent people," Abbas said.

- Jordan

The Jordanian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the bombing stressing support for Iraq in the face of everything threatening its security.

In a statement, the ministry spokesman, Dhaifallah Al-Fayez, described the bombing as a "cowardly terrorist act that aims to destabilize security and stability and contradicts with religious and humanitarian values and principles."

- Qatar

The Qatari Foreign Ministry also strongly condemned the bombing in the capital, Baghdad, reiterating Doha's firm position on rejecting violence and terrorism, regardless of the motives and causes.

In a statement, the ministry offered condolences to the families of the victims and the government and people of Iraq, and wished the wounded a speedy recovery.

- Egypt

For its part, Egypt condemned the bombing, expressing its sincere condolences and sympathy to the brotherly Iraqi government and people for the victims of this "disgraceful act of terrorism", and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry affirmed in a statement that it "stands by brotherly Iraq in its endeavors to maintain security and stability and confront all forms of terrorism and extremism."

- Canada

Canada's Ambassador in Baghdad Ulric Shannon strongly condemned the bombing describing it as a "disgusting event."

"It is with great sadness and sorrow that I received the news of the terrorist attack in the Bab Al Sharqi region," he said. "I wish the wounded a speedy recovery, mercy and forgiveness for the martyrs."

- US-led international coalition

The international coalition against ISIS called the Baghdad attack another example of terrorists killing Iraqis and harming those seeking peace.

It affirmed to continue its support for the Iraqi government to achieve security and stability.

- United States

The US embassy in Iraq said in a statement: "This attack is a cowardly and disgraceful act that confirms the dangers of terrorism that millions of Iraqis still face."

The statement strongly condemned the bombing, expressing condolences to the families and wishing a speedy recovery for the wounded.

- Yemen

The Yemeni Foreign Ministry said in a statement that it shares the pain of Iraqi people.

The statement affirmed Yemen's support for "all measures taken by the Iraqi government in combating terrorism and maintaining its security and stability."

- Iran

The Iranian embassy in Iraq condemned the bombings and affirmed the country’s “readiness to provide all assistance."

It expressed hope that the Iraqi security authorities will be able to arrest those involved in the attacks and punish them as soon as possible.

- Organization of the Islamic Cooperation

The head of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen, expressed his "condolences to the families of the victims and to the Iraqi government," wishing "a speedy recovery for the wounded."

In a statement, he reiterated "the firm position of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations."

- Gulf Cooperation Council

The head of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, Nayef Al-Hajraf, extended his condolences and sympathies to the families of the victims.

Al-Hajraf stressed the "cooperation council's solidarity with Iraq in combating terrorism and enhancing security and stability in its territories."


- International Union of Muslim Scholars

Dr. Ali Al-Qaradaghi, secretary-general of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, affirmed that what happened in Iraq was "a criminal, cowardly and legally forbidden act, and one of the gravest crimes."

He denounced targeting innocent people, and said: “Such criminal acts only serve those who are against Islam and Muslims."
