UPDATE - European Youth Olympic games - Day 4

At least 675 athletes from 34 countries competing in eastern Anatolian city of Erzurum

ERZURUM, Turkey (AA) - Day Four of the European Youth Olympic Festival ended in the eastern province of Erzurum on Thursday with at least 675 athletes from 34 countries competing for gold in their respective disciplines.

This is the first time Turkey has hosted the games, also known as EYOF 2017.

Opening ceremonies were held Sunday at Erzurum’s 25,000-person capacity Kazim Karabekir Stadium.

Numerous spectators were in attendance despite the chilly -14 Celsius (7 Fahrenheit) temperatures.

Men’s Alpine Skiing - Slalom

1. Alex Vinatzer (Italy), won gold in a time of 1.40.77.

2. Leon Nikic (Crotia), took silver in 1.44.19.

3. Augustin Bianchini (France), with 1.44.81, won bronze.

Berkin Usta (Turkey), finishe 20th among 56 competitors, in a time of 1.52.58.



Mixed Team’s Snowboard

1. Agathe Sillieres - Lucas Cornillat (France A) won gold

2. Kim Martinez - Guillaume Herpin (France B) won silver

3. Zinaida Vasileva - Daniil Donskikh (Russia) won bronze.



Cross-Country Skiing: Girls' Sprint Free

1. Kucheva Elena (Russia), with 2.32.25 won gold

2. Zuzana Halikova (Czech Republic) with 2.35.57 won silver

3. Jasmin Kahara (Finland) with 2.36.11 won bronze.
