ANKARA (AA) - The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) on Tuesday dismissed Türkiye's complaint regarding Sunday's EuroBasket 2022 game with Georgia. Türkiye lost 83-88.

The Turkish Basketball Federation had protested over a timekeeping operations error, saying the clock ran for 22 seconds while the game was stopped.

After reviewing all material and evidence submitted, the disciplinary panel concluded that while there was indeed a timekeeping operation error in the fourth quarter of the game, the Turkish side failed to provide enough evidence to prove that it would have changed the game's outcome.

FIBA added that an investigation is ongoing regarding the allegations from both federations in relation to actions in the team areas of the venue, involving players and delegation members.

Reacting to the statement, the Turkish federation said it will challenge the decision at the International Court of Arbitration for Sport.

"We think that European basketball will deteriorate from its current position if FIBA ... does not create a fair management climate," it added.

Omer Onan, general coordinator of the TBF, had asked FIBA for “minute by minute” footage from the corridors during the Türkiye-Georgia 2022 EuroBasket Group A match played in Tbilisi on Sunday, else the Turkish team will “leave the tournament."

Türkiye's Furkan Korkmaz and other Turkish players were attacked by Georgian players and guards while going to the locker room, according to the Turkish side.
