WASHINGTON (AA) - Former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden defeated Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders in Michigan, the biggest prize among the six states holding primaries Tuesday, according to projections by multiple news outlets.

With 60% of precincts reporting, Biden has 53% of the vote compared to Sanders, with 39.1%. The state has 125 delegates up for grabs.

Sanders nearly won the 2016 Democratic primary.

Tuesday's contest includes Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Idaho, North Dakota and Washington, offering a total of 352 delegates.

Biden is also projected to win the Mississippi, Missouri and Idoha primaries.

According to The Hill website, Biden garnered 80% of the vote in Mississippi and Sanders 15%, with 88% of precincts reporting.

The former vice president received overwhelming backing from black voters in the state.

In Missouri, Biden scored a clear victory, getting 60% of the vote with 93% of precincts reporting. Sanders received 34%.

He also won Idoha state, which Sanders had won in his 2016 primary bid against Hillary Clinton, with a narrower margin. He took 48.9% of votes, while Sanders garnered 42.4%.

Biden's early victories came a week after Super Tuesday, during which he won 10 out of 14 states.

Earlier in the day, President Donald Trump said Sanders should not be too hopeful over the latest primaries.

"Going to be a BAD day for Crazy Bernie!" Trump tweeted, predicting a victory for Biden.

The race has been too close to call in Washington as Biden and Sanders wrangle for the top spot. The results in North Dakota are yet to be revealed.
