UPDATE - Kuwait emir meets Turkish parliament speaker

UPDATES WITH KAHRAMAN AND AL GHANIM HOLDING A SYMBOLIC GENERAL ASSEMBLY

KUWAIT CITY (AA) – Kuwait’s emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah met Sunday with Turkish Parliament Speaker Ismail Kahraman, according to the official KUNA news agency.

No details were provided about the content of talks between the two sides.

Deputy Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al-Sabah was also present in the meeting.

Kahraman also held separate meetings with Kuwaiti Prime Minister Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and Speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly Marzouq Al Ghanim.

Both meetings were closed to the press.

Kahraman and Al Ghanim also held a symbolic general assembly, where parliamentarians from the two sides underlined the historical, cultural, and economic ties between the two countries.

The deputies also stressed the sensitivity of Jerusalem for Muslim nations, following the latest U.S. decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

Kahraman arrived in the Gulf country on Saturday for a two-day official visit upon an invitation of his Kuwaiti counterpart.
