ANKARA/ANTALYA, Turkey (AA) - A magnitude 5.2 earthquake jolted Turkey’s Mediterranean Antalya province on Saturday, according to the country's disaster management agency.

The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said the quake occurred at 3.44 p.m. local time (1244 GMT) off the Gazipasa district.

It took place at a depth of 77.58 kilometers (48.2 miles), AFAD added.

AFAD’s provincial head Fevzi Timur said the quake occurred at a distance of 40 kilometers (24.8 miles) from Gazipasa district.

Following the quake, terrified residents rushed out of their houses, despite the ongoing weekend curfew.

Antalya Governor Ersin Yazici said that those staying indoors due to the curfew can leave their apartments.

Provincial Health Director Unal Hulur said one person was injured as he jumped off the second floor out of panic and he was taken to hospital.

“Treatment of the injured person, who has fractures in his body, continues,” Hulur said.

He added that another person with a pacemaker was also hospitalized as he panicked following the quake.

Meanwhile, Vice President Fuat Oktay said they are closely following the situation.
