ANKARA/ATHENS (AA) - Exit polls from Greek snap general election have suggested Sunday that the main opposition New Democracy (ND) party will win the polls and form a government alone.
The conservative right party New Democracy led by Kyriakos Mitsotakis is predicted to get a double-digit victory over the ruling Coalition of the Radical Left (Syriza) party, with a rate between 38,5% - 41,5%.
The party will elect 155 to 167 deputies for the 300-member Greek parliament, according to the polls suggesting that it will have an absolute majority.
Current Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras' Syriza -- coming second - is expected to get 29 % - 32% of votes.
Other three parties, Movement for Change, Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and MeRA25 of former Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis also secured to pass the election threshold of 3% and will elect deputies, according to exit polls.
Meanwhile, local media reported that a ballot box was stolen from one of the polling stations in the Exarchia neighborhood, downtown Athens, by hooded individuals.
Separately, the votes in one of the ballot boxes were set on fire despite polices efforts, Athens News Agency-Macedonian Press Agency said.
Interior Minister Antonis Roupakiotis said the voting will be repeated in the 33rd polling station in Exarchia next Sunday.
