UPDATE - Syria: Bombing turns wedding into funeral, 30 dead

ALEPPO, Syria (AA) – At least 30 people were killed and 90 others wounded Monday in a suicide attack that hit a wedding hall in civil war-torn Syria’s northeastern city of Hasakah, according to local sources.

The casualties include women and children, the source added on condition of anonymity due to security concerns.

There has been no claim of responsibility for the attack.

Syria’s state news agency SANA, however, blamed Daesh group for the suicide bombing.

Syria has been locked in a vicious civil war since early 2011 when the Assad regime cracked down on pro-democracy protests – which erupted as part of the Arab Spring uprisings – with unexpected ferocity.

The Syrian Center for Policy Research, a Beirut-based NGO, has put the total death toll from the five-year conflict at more than 470,000.
