UPDATES WITH ANOTHER CLASH IN SOUTHEASTERN SIRNAK, SOLDIER MARTYRED AND SIX PKK TERRORISTS KILLED

SIIRT, Turkey (AA) - Security forces killed a total of nine PKK terrorists in southeastern Turkey on Friday, while one soldier was martyred, officials said.

In Uludere, Sirnak, in the Bestler-Dereler region, six terrorists were killed by Turkish forces, the Sirnak Governor’s Office said.

One gendarmerie sergeant was also martyred, the office added.

Separately, the Siirt 3rd Commando Brigade and provincial gendarmerie command carried out a joint operation in the Mt. Herekol district of the Pervari region, said the Siirt Governor’s Office,

During a clash with the PKK, Turkish forces killed three terrorists, said a statement by the office.

The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- resumed its armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015.

Since then, it has been responsible for the deaths of some 1,200 Turkish security personnel and civilians, including a number of women and children.
