ANKARA (AA) - Turkey on Tuesday strongly condemned the UN's signing of "an action plan" with the PKK/YPG terror group.

“UN Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict Virginia Gamba’s meeting with PKK terrorist "Ferhat Abdi Şahin", who commands the so-called "Syrian Democratic Forces" dominated by the PKK/PYD/YPG terrorist organization, to sign an "Action Plan" at the UN Office in Geneva without the knowledge of the members is a grave incident which we strongly condemn,” the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

“There can be no explanation for the UN, which should be at the forefront in the fight against terrorism, to strike a deal with a terrorist organization. This act also constitutes a clear breach by the UN of its own resolutions on terrorism,” the statement added.

Turkey also underlined that it is “utterly unacceptable” that “the UN has taken a terrorist organization with blood on its hands as an interlocutor to address this problem,” although it affirms that the terror group commits crimes against humanity and international law.

The United Nations over the weekend signed a scandalous agreement with a terrorist group without the knowledge of UN member states.

The UN signing an “action plan” with the PKK/YPG terrorists, supposedly to stop the recruitment of child soldiers, is actually a sinister subterfuge meant to legitimize a bloody terrorist organization that has killed tens of thousands of people.

Proving the point, the terror group’s propaganda outlets hailed the UN agreement, while it fittingly drew strong condemnation from Turkey, a sovereign member state of the international body.

Additionally, the PKK/YPG’s deal with the UN to stop recruiting child soldiers is yet more proof that for years the terror group has been systematically deploying child troops on the ground during the so-called war against Daesh with U.S. backing.

The outrageous agreement also proves that the UN turned a blind eye to the recruitment of child soldiers at the height of the Syrian civil war or the battle against Daesh, as it moved to address the grave issue only after the war came to an end in northern Syria.

The timing of the disgraceful UN-PKK/YPG deal also suggests that the UN, in a bid to strengthen the voice of the terror group in post-war diplomatic negotiations, waited until the end of the war in northern Syria to sit down with PKK/YPG terrorists and sign a pact with the bloody terrorist group.

The PKK has waged a terror campaign against Turkey for more than 30 years and been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people, including women and children.

In 2017 the U.S., which considers the PKK a terrorist group, helped change the YPG’s name to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in order to dissociate it with the PKK. A terrorist using the SDF label signed the UN pact.
