WASHINGTON (AA) - Turkey submitted fresh evidence on the extradition of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO)'s leader to the U.S., according to the Ankara’s justice minister Wednesday.

Abdulhamit Gul told Anadolu Agency "fresh" and "key" evidence was submitted during his meeting with his American counterpart, William Barr, in Washington which he said was "productive" and hoped would "yield good results.”

FETO and Fetullah Gulen are accused of orchestrating a defeated coup on July 15, 2016 in Turkey which left 251 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured.

The FETO leader has lived in self-imposed exile in Pennsylvania since 1999.

Ankara requested Gulen's extradition from the U.S. several times.

Washington has yet to move towards extraditing Gulen.

"We shared evidence and documents that reveal the direct relationship between July 15 coup attempt and FETO. We submitted this fresh and key evidence directly to Mr. Attorney General," he said.

He did not comment on the content of the evidence.

Gul said Barr told him he would monitor the issue and will take care of the process.
