UPDATE - Turkey's Borsa Istanbul down at close
BIST 100 loses 1.82 points from previous close while Turkish lira gains value against foreign currencies

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index closed Tuesday at 1,377.43 points, down 0.13% day-on-day.
After starting the day at 1,304.89 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 1.82 points from Monday's close of 1,379.25 points.
During the day, the index's lowest value was 1,256.32 points, while its daily high was 1,402.99 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.06 trillion Turkish liras ($134.4 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 39.8 billion Turkish liras ($5.09 billion).
On the second transaction day of the week, 43 stocks on the index rose, 53 fell, and four were unchanged compared to Monday.
The highest trading volumes were posted by private lender Garanti BBVA, automotive firm Ford Otosan and another private lender Akbank.
Polyester producer Sasa was the best performer, with its shares up 9.98%, while stocks of Akbank dropped the most, 9.94%.
The price of one ounce of gold was $1,741.20 by market close, up from $1,733.20 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $62.30 per barrel as of 6.15 p.m. local time (1515GMT) on Tuesday.
The Turkish lira also gained against foreign currencies.
