ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index dropped by 0.20% to close at 87,203.85 points on Thursday.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 87,664.50 points and lost 176.58 points from Wednesday's close of 87,380.43 points.
The benchmark index hovered between 87,088.36 and 88,530.48 points during Thursday's trading.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 577 billion Turkish liras ($95.3 billion) by market close, and the daily trading volume was 6 billion Turkish liras ($996.7 million).
On the fourth transaction day of the week, 45 stocks on the index were on the rise, 45 were on the decline, and 10 were flat compared to the previous close.
The top listed companies by market value were Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding, private lender Garanti and petrochemical company Tupras.
The highest trading volumes were posted by Garanti, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and mining company Koza Anadolu.
Shares of Koza Anadolu were the top gainers -- up 8.43% -- and energy company Isiklar's shares dropped the most, 5.13%.
In Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, the price of one ounce of gold was around $1,294.30 by market close, down from $1,300.45 the previous day.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $73.05 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) Thursday.
