ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index closed Wednesday at 1,385.91 points, down by 0.44% versus the previous close.
Starting the day at 1,391.48 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 6.09 points over the previous close at 1,392.00 points.
During the day, the index's lowest value was 1,379.93 points, while its daily high was 1,394.64 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 985.24 billion Turkish liras ($119.7 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 12.7 billion Turkish liras ($1.55 billion).
On the third transaction day of the week, 38 stocks on the index rose, 50 fell and 12 were same compared to Tuesday.
The highest trading volumes were posted by iron/steel producers Eregli and Kardemir, and private lender Garanti BBVA.
Conglomerate Bera Holding was the best performer, with its shares up 9.96%, while stocks of food producer Kerevitas dropped the most, 4.90%.
The price of one ounce of gold was $1,768 by market close, down from $1,775 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $67.20 per barrel as of 6.20 p.m. local time (1520GMT) on Wednesday.
