ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkey’s benchmark stock index closed at 1,346.84 points on Tuesday, down 0.75% from the previous close.
Starting the day at 1,358.27 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index lost 10.12 points from the previous close of 1,356.96 points.
The index’s lowest value during the day was 1,375.72 points, while its daily high was 1,392.64 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1 trillion Turkish liras ($116.98 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 10.99 billion Turkish liras ($1.27 billion).
On the second transaction day of the week, 17 stocks on the index rose, 76 fell, and three were flat compared to Monday's close.
The highest trading volumes were posted by polyester producer Sasa, private lender Garanti BBVA, and flag carrier Turkish Airlines.
Sasa was the best performer, with its shares up 7.11%, while stocks of RTA, active in biology and health field, saw the sharpest drop, down 4.62%.
The price of one ounce of gold was $1,795 by market close, down from $1,802 at Monday's close.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $75.50 per barrel as of 6:20 p.m. local time (1520GMT).
