UPDATE - Turkey's Borsa Istanbul flat at weekly close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index closed the week at 98,462.73 points on Friday, down slightly by 0.01% versus Thursday's close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 98,689.69 points. As of daily close, it lost 5.79 points from Thursday's close of 98,468.52 points.

During Friday's trading, the index hovered between 97,678.55 and 98,813.59 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 667.5 billion Turkish liras ($116.9 billion) by market close, and the daily trading volume was 5.6 billion Turkish liras ($983.8 million).

On the last transaction day of the week, 33 stocks on the index rose, 55 were down, and 12 were flat compared to Thursday.

The top-listed companies by market value were Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding and private lenders Garanti and Akbank.

The highest trading volumes were posted by national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, telecommunication giant Turk Telekom, and Garanti.

Conglomerate Bera Holding was the best performer on Friday, with its shares up 13.57%, while another conglomerate, Metro Holding, dropped most, down 20%

The price of one ounce of gold was around $1,506.65 by market close, down from $1,507.00 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $60.70 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) on Friday.
