UPDATE - Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up 0.67% at Wednesday's close

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index closed at 1,519.25 points on Wednesday, up 0.67% from the previous day.

Starting the day at 1,510.18 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 10.05 points from Tuesday's close of 1,509.20 points.

The index's lowest value during the day was 1,503.03 points and its daily high was 1,520.66 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was almost 1.2 trillion Turkish liras ($127 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of more than 23.9 billion Turkish liras ($2.5 billion).

A total of 60 stocks on the index rose, 33 fell, and seven remained unchanged compared to Tuesday's close.

The highest trading volumes were posted by private lender Garanti BBVA, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and iron and steel producer Eregli.

Shares of Ziraat GMYO, a real estate investment trust operating under state lender Ziraat Bank, performed the best, rising 9.64%, while stocks of waste-to-energy firm Biotrend dropped the most, 7.41%.

One ounce of gold traded for $1,787.00 by market close, down from $1,801.00 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was down 1.6% to $84.22 per barrel as of 6.24 p.m. local time (1524GMT).
