UPDATE - Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up 0.99% at close

ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index rose by 0.99% to 113,611.89 points at the closing session of Friday.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 111,327.92 points. It has earned 1,117.27 points from Thursday's close of 110,939.66 points.

During the day, the index's lowest level was 112,857.92 points, while the highest was 114,337.53 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 814.25 billion Turkish liras ($118.95 billion) by market close, with a record daily trading volume of 28.44 billion Turkish liras ($4.15 billion).

On the last transaction day of the week, 39 stocks on the index rose, 56 were down, and five were flat compared to Thursday.

The highest trading volumes were posted by iron/steel producer Kardemir, defense giant Aselsan, and private lender Garanti.

State-lender Halkbank was the best performer, with its shares up 9.89%, while automotive firm Karsan dropped the most, losing 4.53%.

The price of one ounce of gold was $1,731.80 by market close, up from $1,722 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $42.60 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) on Friday.
