ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index increased by 0.25% to close Friday at 99,634.78 points.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 99,427.62 points while it soared by 252.58 points from Thursday's close of 99,382.20 points.

The benchmark index hovered between 99,261.94 and 100,447.49 points during Friday's trading.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 663.2 billion Turkish liras ($118.5 billion) by market close, and the daily trading volume was 7.5 billion Turkish liras ($1.3 billion).

On the last transaction day of the week, 31 stocks on the index rose, 56 were down, and 13 were flat compared to the previous close.

The top-listed companies by market value were Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding and private lenders Garanti and Akbank.

The highest trading volumes were posted by Garanti, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and Akbank.

Akbank was the best performer, with its shares up 5.45%, while stocks of conglomerate Verusa Holding dropped most, down 4.12%.

The price of one ounce of gold was around $1,411.00 by market close, according to Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets data.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $63.90 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) Friday.
