UPDATE - Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up at close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index closed the day at 100,525.32 points on Tuesday, rising 0.44% from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 100,146.50 points. As of daily close, it earned 437.53 points from Monday's close of 100,087.79 points.

During Tuesday's trading, the index's lowest level was 99,847.66 points and the highest was 100,693.88 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 681.9 billion Turkish liras ($120 billion) by market close, and the daily trading volume was 6.75 billion Turkish liras ($1.17 billion).

On the second transaction day of the week, 48 stocks on the index rose, 38 were down, and 14 were flat compared to Monday.

The top-listed companies by market value were Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding and private lenders Garanti and Akbank.

The highest trading volumes were posted by national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and iron/steel companies Kardemir and Eregli.

Conglomerate Bera Holding was the best performer on Tuesday, with its shares up 19.87%, while stocks of another conglomerate Ihlas Holding dropped most, down 6.56%

The price of one ounce of gold was around $1,502 by market close, down from $1,513 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $62.75 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) on Tuesday.
