ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index closed at 1,431.78 points on Thursday, up 1.27% from the previous close.
Starting the day at 1,409.05 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 17.98 points from Wednesday's close of 1,413.80 points.
The index's lowest value during the day was 1,407.56 points, while its daily high was 1,431.78 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was almost 1.07 trillion Turkish liras ($128 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of more than 16.8 billion Turkish liras ($2 billion).
While 65 stocks on the index rose, 27 fell compared to Wednesday's close.
The highest trading volumes were posted by private lender Garanti BBVA, gold miner Koza Altin, and energy giant Tupras.
Pipe and tube producer Erbosan was the best performer of the day with its shares up 9.08%. Stocks of conglomerate Verusa Holding did the worst, down 2.52%.
The price of one ounce of gold was $1,813.50 by market close, versus $1,813.15 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Market.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $74.69 per barrel as of 6.30 p.m. local time (1530GMT).
