UPDATE - Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up at Tuesday's close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index closed at 1,465.89 points on Tuesday, up 0.45% from the previous close.

Starting the day at 1,465.18 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 6.55 points from Monday's close of 1,459.33 points.

The index's lowest value during the session was 1,463.91, while its daily high was 1,467.86.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was 1 trillion Turkish liras ($130 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 13 billion Turkish liras (nearly $1.5 billion).

Shares of private lender Garanti BBVA, iron and steel producer Kardemir and national flag carrier Turkish Airlines saw the highest trading volumes on Monday.

Shares of software firm Logo performed the best, rising 3.7%, while stocks of leading Turkish white goods firm Vestel did the worst with a 3.29% drop.

A total of 59 stocks on the index rose, 30 fell, and 11 were unchanged compared to Monday's close.

An ounce of gold traded for $1,807.00 by market close, up from $1,788.40 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

Brent crude oil was around $69.97 per barrel as of 6.31 p.m. (1531GMT).
