UPDATE - Turkey's top diplomat meets businesspeople in Romania

Meeting comes ahead of informal Gymnich meeting of EU foreign ministers in Romania's capital Bucharest

UPDATES WITH MEETING OF TURKISH AND CROATIAN FMs

BUCHAREST, Romania (AA) - On a visit to Romania, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on Thursday met with local Turkish businesspeople in the capital Bucharest.

The meeting was attended by Fusun Aramaz, Turkey’s ambassador to Bucharest, as well as representatives from the Foreign Economic Relations Board’s Turkish-Romanian Business Council, the Turkish Businesspeople’s Association of Romania, Turkey-Romania Investment Association, and Turkish Airlines' office in Bucharest.

At the meeting, Cavusoglu spoke on bilateral economic and commercial relations and encouraged participants to boost bilateral trade and reciprocal investments.

Afterwards he wrote on Twitter: “Romania, where over 15,000 Turkish companies operate, is our largest exporting market in the region. We talked about opportunities to increase our trade volume with representatives of Turkish companies.”

Later in the day, Cavusoglu also met with his Croatian counterpart Marija Pejcinovic Buric. Cavusoglu said on Twitter that they discussed bilateral ties and planned high-level visits.

Cavusoglu came to the city to attend Gymnich, a two-day informal meeting of foreign ministers of EU member states and candidate countries, starting tomorrow.
