UPDATE - US foreign chief holds talks in Qatar on Gulf crisis

*UPDATES WITH TILLERSON MEETING QATAR'S EMIR

DOHA (AA) – Qatar's emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani held talks Tuesday in Doha with U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on the Gulf crisis.

The meeting tackled developments of the crisis and its repercussions on regional and international levels as well as the Kuwaiti mediation to resolve the crisis, Qatar's official QNA news agency reported.

Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman and Kuwaiti Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Mohammed Al-Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah later joined the meeting.

Tillerson arrived in Doha earlier Tuesday as part of a Gulf tour that already took him to Kuwait. He is also scheduled to visit Saudi Arabia.

Last month, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain severed relations with Qatar, accusing Doha of supporting terrorism.

They also imposed a land, sea, and air blockade on Qatar.

The four states have presented a list of demands for Qatar, including the closure of the pan-Arab Al Jazeera television, or face further sanctions.

Qatar, for its part, denies the accusations, saying the blockade was in violation of international law.
