ANKARA (AA) - At least three people were killed on Sunday in an ongoing shooting at a festival in northern California, according to a local official.
City councilman Dion Bracco confirmed in an interview with the New York Times that an additional 12 had been wounded at the Gilroy Garlic Festival, with the active shooter still at large.
"The hearts of Gilroy PD and entire community go out to the victims of today's shooting at the Garlic Festival. The scene is still active," the Gilroy Police Department said on Twitter.
Police also issued a warning not to approach the area in Christmas Hill Park, which it said remained an "active crime scene."
"Law Enforcement is at the scene of shootings in Gilroy, California. Reports are that shooter has not yet been apprehended," U.S. President Donald Trump said on Twitter.
The shooting broke out on the final day of the three-day event -- the 41st annual Gilroy Garlic Festival -- at Christmas Hill Park.
